The 2018 Ocean Science Meeting (OSM) will be organised from Feb. 11 - 16, 2018 in Portland, US. In preparation for the meeting, ICPO has compiled a list of sessions proposed by CLIVAR Scientists as well as a list of sessions that are related to CLIVAR Science at the 2018 OSM. Abstracts submission deadline: September 6, 2017.

The European Union will further boost its research and innovation cooperation with its strategic partners Brazil and South Africa in order to better understand marine ecosystems and climate. The South Atlantic Research and Innovation Flagship Initiative has been launched and a joint Statement on Atlantic Ocean Research and Innovation Cooperation has been signed among EU, Brazil and South Africa on July 13, 2017.
The Twenty second PIRATA conference (PIRATA 22 meeting) will occupy a prominent position, because the project celebrates its 20 years in 2017.

The Atlantic Ocean is subject to pronounced climate variations that occur on a wide range of time scales. Atlantic multi-decadal variability (AMV) associated with the Atlantic meridional overturning circulation has long been known to have global impacts.
