Dr. Celine Heuzé receives the 2022 EGU Ocean Sciences (OS) Division Outstanding Early Career Scientist Award
We are very proud and glad to announce that Dr. Céline Heuzé (Department of Earth Sciences, University of Gothenburg), member of CLIVAR/CliC Northern Oceans Region Panel, has been awarded the 2022 Ocean Science Division Outstanding Early Career Scientist Award of the European Geosciences Union for her outstanding contribution to polar research and the polar oceans’ effects on the climate.
Céline is a climatologist and physical oceanographer at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden. Her research focuses on the transport of heat and salt by global deep waters and their interaction with the rest of the climate system at high latitudes, using global climate modelling, in-situ hydrographic data, and remote sensing. Her favourite activity is to quantify and explain biases in global climate models, but her projects cover a large range, from near-real time satellite observations of the Weddell Polynya to the long-term warming of the bottom of the Arctic Ocean. She is a co-PI of the international expedition MOSAiC and a member of the CLIVAR/CliC Northern Ocean Regional Panel.
The European Geosciences Union (EGU) has named the 50 recipients of next year’s Union Medals and Awards, Division Medals, and Division Outstanding Early Career Scientist Awards. These individuals are honoured for their important contributions to the Earth, planetary and space sciences. They will be celebrated during the EGU General Assembly 2022 on 3–8 April, 2022.
