WCRP JSC-40 meeting opened in Geneva
The Joint Scientific Committee (JSC) – the guiding body of the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP) – held its 40th annual session at the World Meteorological Organization headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, from 6 th to 10 th May 10 2019.
This is an annual meeting where the leaders of the WCRP research community discuss progress towards the Programme's objectives and make decisions that will determine the future direction of the Programme.
About 80 scientists including JSC members, chairs of core projects, grand challenges and working groups; members of the WCRP joint planning staff, representatives from sponsors agencies, partners and guests; gather to discuss about the new WCRP strategic an implementation plans, transition strategies; to discuss on the briefings of the core projects, WCRP councils, WCRP core projects and other working groups.
There was also a Public Science lecture, with Thomas Stocker as keynote lecturer and panel discussion, co-hosted by WMO and WCRP
Jose Santos, Executive Director of the International CLIVAR Project Office (ICPO), represented the ICPO in this meeting.
