ARP regular telecon held in March

The CLIVAR Atlantic Region Panel (ARP) held a telecon on 18 March 2022, participated by Eleanor Frajka-Williams, Regina Rodrigues, Paquita Zuidema, Dariia Atamanchuk, Susan Bates, Gregory Foltz, Franck Ghomsi, Laura Jackson, Ingo Richter, Olga Sato, Tannecia Sydia Stephenson from ARP and Jing Li from ICPO. The telecon began with self introductions, followed by an overview made by Dr. Eleanor Frajka-Williams (ARP co-chair) on the key activities and major achievements of APR over the past years. The main task for the ARP telecon was to reemphasize the three focal themes of ARP, i.e. Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC), the role of the Tropical Atlantic on Tropical Basin Interaction (TBI), and Ocean Extremes and Impacts. Brainstorming discussions on the future plan around the three focal themes as well as other additional areas that are of interest to the ARP members were stimulated.

It was agreed that the ARP members will register their interests in the abovementioned thematical areas, and organise in subsets telecons to further discuss the activities to be implemented in 2022 under each thematical area. It was also suggested to establish an ARP Blog, with the contributions from ARP members and invited guests, to increase the visibility of ARP. The next ARP telecon will be organised in about three months.
