My curiosity in the field of climate science is sparked through the day today weather and its changes. My research area is atmosphere-ocean coupling and dynamics with special interests in Monsoon. I did my Master of Science in Atmospheric Science from Savitribai Phule Pune University and Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM), India. I have carried out M.Sc. project work at IITM. We recently published the paper which demonstrates the recent changes in summer monsoon circulation favours the Arabian Sea warming even though net heat flux is negative over it.

Our study found the low level monsoonal circulation is increasing with migration towards the north in last thirty seven years. The Arabian Sea experiences stronger anticyclonic wind which enhances downwelling of thermocline supporting the Upper Ocean warming. Furthermore, the proposed hypothesis is supported through carrying out several sensitivity experiments using GFDL Modular Ocean model (MOM5) ocean general circulation model to analyzing role of the momentum flux over the ocean, which confirms that change in momentum flux associated with the changing monsoon circulation contributes to increased upper ocean heat content through retaining more heat by vertical process and meridional transport of heat, even though the net surface heat flux over the Arabian Sea shows a decreasing trend. Study concludes that change in summer monsoon low-level circulation can lead to a positive trend of the upper ocean heat content in the Arabian Sea.

In this study, I have used various statistical analysis (i.e. Time series analysis, Trend analysis, Significant test). To study spatial and temporal features packages like PyFerret, GrADS, CDO, Xmgrace are used. I have also attended conferences and actively presented this work. I am curious to learn the different approaches and cutting-edge tools and techniques that are used in climate science.
