Sea Level 2022 Conference Preparation Telecon in July

The WCRP Grand Challenge on “Regional Sea Level Change and Coastal Impacts” will organize the Sea Level 2022 Conference in Singapore, 11-15 July 2022. Regular telecons are being organised by the Local Organizing Committee on a monthly basis. In the recent telecon organised on 28th July 2021 and attended by Robert Nicholls, Kathy McInnes, Aurel Moise, Svetlana Jevrejeva, Benjamin P. Horton, Gwen Tan, Chloe Lim, Vanessa Lim, Jose Santos and Jing Li, the specific conference requirements and initial estimated costs for the conference (both in virtual and hybrid format) were discussed, with several consensuses achieved.

Ms. Gwen Tan led the discussion on the specific conference requirements related to the estimation of costs, which will be further communicated to the meeting service provider in Singapore, including the poster submission portal and pre-recording, the translation service, virtual and/or onsite exhibition arrangement, physical meeting room requirements, venue options and etc. The archive of conference material and publication of conference outcomes have also been discussed. ICPO shared the virtual poster platform that was used for the WCRP-CLIVAR Workshop on Climate Interactions among the Tropical Basins (Online), and will help explore the virtual 3-D exhibition service that has been used for a US CLIVAR event.

Besides the logistic issues, the organising committee is also working on defining the purpose of the conference, i.e., what is to be achieved for the conference and possible impactful deliverables. The 2nd announcement with more details of the conference is expected to be release in August.

As of 23rd July 2021, 120 people have expressed their interests in participating the conference.
