The 5th Session of CLIVAR Ocean Model Development Panel (OMDP) was successfully held in Tallahassee, US
The 5th session of CLIVAR OMDP was successfully held on 11 & 14 March 2019 in Tallahassee, US. This panel meeting was held in conjunction with the Sources and Sinks of Ocean Mesoscale Eddy Energy (SSOMMEE) Workshop which was organized by the US CLIVAR.
The local host, the Florida State University, provided substantial support for the successful organizing of this meeting.
During the meeting, members from OMDP met together, communicated the progress and outcomes since their last face-to-face meet. Topics on the progress on JRA-55 and CORE-II forcing modeling, JRA-55do-forced ocean/sea-ice POP simulation from 1958 to present, contributions to the IPCC AR6, progress on high resolution modeling of the panel , progress in numeric, parameterizations of the model system were presented and discussed. One to two review papers on CMIP6 needs and targets, and the high-resolution results in OMIP for CMIP6 and other simulations that can be utilized were planned at the meeting.
The co-chairs of OMDP are also the Scientific Organizing Committee of the SSOMEE workshop, thus topics arising from the SSOMEE were summarized and discussed among the OMDP members at the end of the workshop on 14 March.
