Prof. Lixin Wu Honored with the AGU Ambassador Award

Prof. Lixin Wu has been awarded the AGU Ambassador Award according to the press release announced by AGU on August 22, 2019.  AGU Fellow is conferred on recipients of the Award. 

Prof. Lixin Wu served as a CLIVAR SSG member from 2013 to 2017, he is also a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, President of Qingdao National Laboratory for Marine Science and Technology (QNLM), and the vice president of the Ocean University of China (OUC).

With the contributions of Prof. Wu, CLIVAR has expanded the network and connections in China during the past 5 years, He also contributed to organizing the 2nd CLIVAR Open Science Conference in 2016 in Qingdao successfully.

The Ambassador Award is given annually to one or up to five honorees in recognition for “outstanding contributions to one or more of the following areas: societal impact, service to the Earth and space community, scientific leadership, and promotion of talent/career pool.”

Established in 2013, the Ambassador Award honors members whose achievements extend beyond those recognized by traditional scientific discipline awards. The award furthers AGU’s strategic goals to promote collaboration and innovation, inform society about Earth and space science, and build the global talent pool.
